New Holland willow harvester has high output

Developed in prototype form in Yorkshire, New Holland’s specialist willow harvester can handle stems of up to 200mm and trees of 12.5m high at speeds of 12.5kmh.
It has heavy-duty forestry rolls and can handle more than 8ha (20 acres) a day, doubling the acreage previously covered, says the company.
The Pennsylvania-made device attaches in the same way as maize, grass and whole-crop headers to the FR9000 range of foragers, meaning contractors will be able to modify the machine with reduced downtime. To see it in action, there’ll be a demonstration on 18 and 19 March at E.ON’s Steven’s Croft power station near Lockerbie.
