New front loaders from Stoll
Front loader specialist Stoll has added new models for tractors of 70-150hp to its Robust FZ model line-up.
A highlight is the time-saving feature built into the hydraulic control block whereby the bucket can be quickly emptied, for example, while still being raised. The five-model Robust FZ range, which complements the FZ60 and 80 loaders already introduced for 150-300hp tractors, uses the same streamlined design with parallel linkages inside the arms. The result is a better view for the operator, also helped by the new Stoll piston accumulator shock absorber being neatly stashed out of sight inside the loader cross tube.
“Our target is increased ease of operation and this includes synchronisation of routine work sequences,” explained Stoll managing director Karsten Rewitz. More efficiency also comes from up to two spare hydraulic circuits available in the loader hydraulic block for some of the 50 tools now available, including complete big bale silage wrapping systems.
The hydraulic block also controls the routine that automatically tips the filled bucket to 45 degrees and then up to a maximum 69 degrees as the arms rise to full height. This no-spill action is coupled to a gravity powered sudden-dump action for very rapid discharge. The new loaders will be on the market in Europe as from May this year.
More reach to outpunch telescopic loaders?
Added reach could soon be added to Stoll FZ front loaders for extra stacking heights.
The Stoll Robust FZ loader capacities now run from the FZ10 (50-75hp) with a maximum lift of 2060kg and loading height of 3.5m to the giant FZ80 (180-300hp) which can hoist 3050kg to 4.55m height.
Stoll engineers say they plan to give more reach to their loaders with an extension system that should increase stacking height by 1m or 2m at least.
“Plans have progressed beyond the drawing-board stage,” says Mr Rewitz. “Mounted front loaders on tractors are simply too versatile on the farm to be threatened by telescopic loaders, but their high stacking capacity is something we can learn from.”
Stoll is targeting the booming North American hobby farmer market with a new range of compact tractor front loaders, but sees the European market as increasingly attractive too. “In the US there are now 1.5m hobby farmers who want sophisticated machinery, but only need it in a compact size,” explained Armin Walter, export and OEM sales manager with Stoll. “We see this trend being closely followed in Europe and are stepping in now to meet the growing demand.” The front loaders are for compact tractors from 15-50hp.
Stoll loaders are sold in the UK through Lynx Engineering and will be at 2009’s Grassland UK event at Shepton Mallet on 7 May 2009.
