McConnel is now selling a new 5m reach model for its popular 45-series Power Arms. The PA5045 boosts the reach of the existing 4.7m PA4745 and offers operators a greater cutting range.

Powered by a high-output 45hp hydraulic system, the machine is said to be light, manoeuvrable and easy to use.

It is equally well suited to hedgecutting and verge-mowing, says the company, is compatible with a range of cutting attachments and has enough power to handle tough jobs.

It weighs a fairly modest 633kg and can fit smaller tractors of just 50hp and above, though a tractor weight of 2,500kg is needed.

A mid-cut arm setting is available and there’s a choice of electric and cable rotor controls, plus lift and float angle kits are available.

A safety breakaway, cushioned top link and storage support legs are available and there’s a choice of working attachments including cutterbars, multisaws, and rotary heads.

Cost is £14,000 with a 1.2m flailhead.
