Lamma 2018: Fendt 943 Vario MT makes UK debut

Tracked tractor fans will no doubt make a beeline for the Agco display at Lamma 2018, where the new 431hp Fendt 943 Vario MT makes its UK debut.

While the bigger 492-646hp tracklayers are more or less the same Challenger machines in Fendt colours, the 943 Vario MT and its 380hp and 405hp cousins are all-new designs that feature a Vario CVT transmission for the first time.

Fendt iD speed control aims to keep the AGCO engine operating within a 1200-1700rpm speed range, delivering maximum torque with minimum fuel consumption.

Aauto low idle knocks the revs back to 800rpm once parked up, and at travel speeds one of the Vario transmission’s hydraulic motors disengages to eliminate oil drag losses for optimum power efficiency.

New suspension for the Mobile Trac assemblies aims to improve field and road handling and works with other new suspension elements to give the operator a more comfortable ride, says Fendt.

Operators also get a more spacious, more comprehensively equipped cab derived from the design introduced with the 1000 Series wheeled tractors.
