JCB launches biggest-capacity telehandler

When JCB launched its highest-capacity farm telehandler a couple of years ago it thought it would only appeal to a few of the very biggest farmers and contractors.

But with sales of the 550-80 going through the roof, the maker has decided to make an even larger one.

The 560-80 looks almost identical to its smaller sibling, but its been given a few tweaks to help it lift that bit more.

Beefing up the lift ram and adding a larger counter weight means it can now lift 6t (1t more than the 550-80).

Reach is still 8m, though, and the same 140-litre/min hydraulic pump has been used.

To help reduce cycle times and improve fuel consumption, JCB has added a system it calls Regenerative Hydraulics.

This dumps oil out of the rams, rather than pumping it, meaning the boom can drop quickly without the need to rev the engine.
