A New Holland combine harvester, pictured here working the corn fields of Pembrokeshire this season, must rate as one of the most travelled in the UK.

The harvester started 2008 cutting corn in Minnesota before it was shipped to UK to Pembrokeshire agricultural contractors, Keith and Kevin Locke.

But its journey doesn’t end there – proving how global the market for machinery has become. Before the year concludes the machine will be harvesting in New Zealand because the Locke brothers have sold her to a Kiwi farmer.

“We sell our combines on at the end of the season because we don’t want money tied up in a machine that stands idle until the next harvest,” said Keith (left).

“Thank goodness we’ve got her this year, she’s got a 24-foot header and can cover up to seven acres an hour.”
