Tractek develops trailed grass harrow for ATVs and pickups

Devonian outfit Tractek has bolstered its fledgling range of grassland rejuvenators with a new trailed model.
Its debut Scarrow was a tractor-mounted affair that paired 96 scarifying tines with a chain harrow mat to remove thatch, spread dung and mole hills, and prepare ground for overseeding.

The same format has now been applied to the trailed derivative that can be towed by an ATV or pickup without a rear linkage.
It uses a spring-assisted mechanical lift assembly to swap between work and transport positions.
The implement comes with the firm’s adjustable “harrowmax” weight transfer system.
This allows almost all the weight of the galvanised steel frame – and some of the pulling force – to be transferred to the scarifying tines for maximum aggressivity.
Buyers can also spec a seed spreader for overseeding, repairing poached areas and establishing herbal leys and wildflower meadows.
It now comes with electronic control of the shutter opening/closing and disc speed, with the latter displayed as a digital read-out.
The trailed Scarrow SCT is priced at £1,225 for a 1.2m working width, and £1,325 for 1.6m.
The spreading kit, which attaches to the frame via a single quick-release pin, costs a further £350.
