Agritechnica 2019: Doosan DL280-5 to battle JCB shovels
Doosan is the latest manufacturer to attempt to wrest some shovel sales from JCB’s clutches, with a new model adapted from the industrial market.
It joins an increasingly competitive sector, with the likes of New Holland, Case, Venieri, Volvo and Claas all snapping at the Staffordshire manufacturer’s heels.

Doosan’s DL280-5 is one of a 13-strong wheeled loader fleet from the South Korean company and was cherry-picked for the ag market. It runs a 5.9-litre, six-cylinder engine serving up 174hp, which puts it slightly above JCB’s 427 Agri in power and size.
The drivetrain involves a fairly uncomplicated four-speed powershift and the machine weighs just over 15t, so it should be well set for clamp work.
Other figures of note include a healthy 210 litres/min hydraulic pump and maximum lift of 12t, or 10.7t at full lock.
