Pottinger develops mower swath merging without conditioners
The latest development from Pottinger enables swaths to be merged without a conditioner by using a cross-flow auger.
The new Cross Flow (CF) auger merges the forage to form one swath directly after mowing and the closed design prevents forage losses.

It is driven by a second gearbox placed by the outer mower discs.
This drives three V-belts to engage the auger, which has increasing pitch windings to allow large volumes of forage to be continuously conveyed to the side and create a uniform swath.
Wide placement of the forage is also possible by simply opening the casing. At the moment, it will only be available on the 3.5m mounted Novacat 352, where is will add 480kg to the overall weight and take an extra 40hp to run.
