More automation for Pottinger Novacat triple mower
Pottinger has added several new features to its flagship Novacat triple mower, the V 10000.
These include a GPS-based section control facility that lifts and lowers each side individually at the headland, and automatic incline compensation, which shifts the beds sideways to avoid misses when working across hills.
The model’s 16 twin-blade discs can swipe up to 10m of grass in one pass and it is available with a headstock to suit either a 3m- or 3.5m-wide front mower.

Hydraulic side shift offers up to 370mm of lateral movement on each bed, allowing operators to increase the overlap with the front unit to account for slopes or sweeping corners, or reduce it for straight-line work.
The amount of down pressure automatically adapts as the working width changes, says Pottinger, which should reduce the risk of unnecessary wear and the associated crop contamination caused by running too close to the ground.
Driveline
As with the old A10, the driveline is arranged so that the shafts exit the gearbox from the opposite side to the bed that they drive, which allows the fitment of longer ptos that run at less of an angle to maintain smooth power delivery and extend service life.
The job computer is fitted directly on the machine and can be connected to the new Select Control terminal.
This has an integrated maintenance indicator for grease points and oil changes, based on the number of hours worked.
Just one double-acting spool is required to lift and lower the beds individually, fold the side guards, adjust the working width and operate the transport lock.
There’s also the option of plugging into an Isobus connector and running it through the tractor’s touchscreen or a suitable terminal.
With this, some of the functions can be integrated into an automatic sequence.
As before, options include ED tine-type or RC roller conditioners, plus Collector belt mergers or the Cross Flow auger at the back.
The V 10000 ED weighs 3,160kg, needs a minimum of 180hp to run and folds to 3.15m wide for transport. Prices start at £48,780.
