Farmer finds simple way to up legal trailer weight
The current campaign to increase the legal weight limit of tractors and trailers on the road from 24t to 31t is all well and good, but many farmers are still wondering how they will get the maths to add up.
However, Farmers Weekly reader Stephen Evans from Astcote Simmentals at Towcester, Northamptonshire, reckons he’s found a much simpler way to pull a big trailer. He has kindly sent a photo of a potential answer to the problem of remaining under 24.39t gross train weight.
“The photo doesn’t show the parachute on the back, which we call ‘Air Brakes’,” he says, “or my smouldering boots from stopping at junctions.”
