Inventions Competition: Quad bike trailer makes light work

As our annual inventions competition hots up, we’re giving you a sneak preview of some of the entries before we start judging.

This nifty creation is the work of John Coleman, designed to make moving quad bikes from farm to farm on the back of the jeep easier.

Quad bike trailer invention

This ingenious lightweight quad bike trailer is easy to hook on and off the jeep and saves on fuel, as the large cattle trailer that usually does the job can be left in the shed.

It is close to the ground, and lacks the high sides of a normal trailer, so it’s easy for the rider to get the bike on and disembark.

The quad bike is fixed securely on the trailer thanks to a hole between the members for all four wheels. This means you don’t have to apply the handbrake, which prevents needless wear and tear while in transit.

Currently this invention could be used off-road but would need additional features to make it roadworthy.

If you’d like to submit your invention, find out how on our competition information page.
