Inventions Competition 2024: Jonny Leech’s monitor mounting brackets

Jonny Leech’s guidance screen brackets won the intermediate category of the annual Farmers Weekly Inventions Competition.

Removing guidance receivers from tractor roofs is now common practice, but prising the cab screens from their mounting screws and plugs is a more convoluted affair.

Having had several pinched, Norfolk farmer and engineering whizz Jonny Leech decided to develop a set of brackets that makes them far easier to whip off.

His so-called ScreenSavers were designed on CAD before being 3D printed with durable plastic.

They fit between the built-in bracket and the screen itself, with a quick-release system allowing them to be taken off in seconds. In some cases, he has managed to incorporate the plug into the same mechanism.

After knocking up several prototypes, he now has fully functioning ScreenSavers for current John Deere, New Holland and Case IH models.

He plans to sell them privately and also hopes to make them available through several machinery dealerships.
