Makita launches its first cordless air compressor
Complete with a 7.6-litre tank and maximum pressure output of 135psi (9.3bar), Makita’s first cordless compressor provides a handy portable air supply.
The compact AC001G is primarily designed for use with pneumatic nailing guns, but it can run other air tools, inflate tyres and blow dust out of radiators or filters.

Power comes from one of the firm’s 40V XGT battery packs, which drives the pump via a brushless motor.
This is gutsy enough to get the air tank to full pressure in just two minutes, which it can then discharge at a rate of 34 litres/min.
The pump cuts in and out automatically and output can be adjusted to suit the task at hand using a dial on the front of the machine.
There’s also an air release valve on the base of the tank to empty it after a job and drain any condensation.
To make the tool easy to carry around and protect against knocks, it is surrounded by a sturdy steel frame, and it has grippy rubber feet on the base.
The bare tool can be purchased online for about £285 and a suitable 4Ah 40V battery costs roughly £120. There’s also a larger 8Ah version priced from about £175.
