Lightweight Echo DCS-2500 chainsaw promises easy handling
One of the most recent additions to Echo’s growing arsenal of cordless equipment is the DCS-2500 X-Series chainsaw.
Running the Japanese firm’s 2.5Ah, 50V lithium-ion battery packs, the pro-spec model promises comparable power to a 25-30cc petrol saw – or, more specifically, Echo’s own CS-2511WES.
This allows it to run guide bars up to 30cm (12in), fitted with 0.043in gauge and 0.25in pitch chain.

With a dainty 2kg dry weight, it’s designed to be easy to handle and offer a high power-to-weight ratio.
Tasks such as de-limbing, pruning, hedge laying and cutting firewood best suit its abilities, for which the 2.5Ah battery gives a run time of up to 32mins.
Other notable features include a translucent chain oil tank and single bar-retaining nut.
Retail price is £357.50 for the bare tool, with a 2.5Ah, 50V battery costing about £170.
