Better soil penetration with Lemken’s Diamant 18 ploughs

Lemken has upped the weight and tweaked the position of the depth wheel on its five to eight-furrow Diamant 18 semi-mounted ploughs to improve soil penetration in bone-dry conditions.

The support wheel is now located aft of the main 180mm box-section frame to maximise the benefit of the added weight and help maintain a consistent working depth.

This results in a significantly lower centre of gravity, which Lemken says reduces the rotational force the plough is subjected to and eases the strain on the tractor’s rear linkage.

As well as protecting the plough components, the extended wheelbase will apparently improve the stability of the tractor and the smoothness of the ride.

The on-land/in-furrow Diamant 18 also has a nifty hydraulic steering system that sees the transport wheel automatically turn as the tractor corners.

Combined with a 90deg pivot on the plough headstock, this should help keep headland shunts relatively tight.

The ploughs will be available in small numbers next year, with full series production slated to start in 2026.
