Amazone launches biggest semi-mounted Tyrok on-land plough
A new variant of Amazone’s biggest plough – the semi-mounted Tyrok 400 – can be operated with the tractor on-land as well as in-furrow to cater for power units with extra-large tyres, dual wheels or tracks.
Designed for tractors up to 400hp, the Tyrok 400 Onland is available in seven-furrow plus one and eight-furrow plus one configurations – so up to nine-furrow working – with shear-bolt or hydraulic leg protection.
Key features shared with the in-furrow only model include a “damped” finish to the SmartTurn headland roll-over sequence, which involves retracting the secondary beam to minimise stresses on the plough and tractor hitch, and the option of hydraulic on-the-go furrow width alteration.

When hydraulic front furrow width adjustment is chosen over the mechanical version, AutoAdapt automatically tweaks the setting to match any changes to the overall furrow width without affecting the line of pull.
Other common features include Amazone’s SpeedBlade body assemblies, which incorporate an extended shin designed to protect the solid or slatted mouldboards from wear, especially at faster working speeds.
Apart from avoiding furrow slice compaction when running on tyres wider than 710mm, Amazone suggests advantages of on-land ploughing include the ability to plant a larger tyre-to-soil contact area for reduced overall soil compaction, and potential for better traction.
Steering guidance makes on-land ploughing less tiring for operators – and using a plough with in-furrow and on-land capability makes it possible to easily switch between the two approaches according to soil type, prevailing conditions and tractor availability.
Amazone expects the eight-furrow Tyrok vari-width, priced at £69,255, to be the most popular on-land model.
