Sima 2022: Actisol Stell’Air knocks down cover crops

Brittany-based Actisol takes an alternative approach to cover crop destruction, employing two ranks of star-shaped discs to flick plants out of their growing medium – rather than chopping them to bits.

This leaves the plant to perish on the surface, eliminating any risk of it multiplying and regrowing once sliced and diced.

The discs are spaced at 16cm along each row, mounted at a 12deg angle and designed to bite down to a maximum depth of 50mm.

At 480mm diameter, they are also relatively small and therefore turn quickly, while their flicking action is intensified as the tractor accelerates to its 15kph target speed.

Tail-mounted consolidation tools include heavy tines and cage rollers, and there is the option of fitting a 200-litre Startec hopper for cover crop sowing.

Extra capacity can be provided by a front-mounted tank, which feeds spreader plates positioned between the discs and tines/packer.

The range includes 4m, 5.3m and 6.5m folding models, with the 4m version on show priced at €40,000 (£35,000).
