More seeding options on offer for latest Kuhn HR power harrow

Cereals and oilseeds, as well as precision-planted crops such as maize, can be established using a choice of seeding units for Kuhn’s latest folding power harrow, the 4.5m HR 4530 RCS.

Both are mounted on the harrow’s packer roller to allow for different cultivating depths and have hydraulically adjustable sowing depth.

Used with a 1,500- or 2,000-litre TF 1512 front tank, the grain and oilseeds coulter bar priced from £29,330 can be had with 125mm or 150mm row spacings and 35cm between the two ranks of Seedflex double-disc coulters.

These are mounted on parallel linkage with up to 45kg of downward pressure and individual press/depth control wheels.

Vistaflow valves are available for all outlets on the distribution head of the air seeding system to allow flexible tramline configurations and seed blockage monitoring.

Precision planting

For maize planting, the new Kosma CSM precision planting assembly comprises six units spaced 750mm across the working width and overall is 250mm shorter than regular maize planters to keep the centre of gravity of the outfit as close to the tractor as possible.

In this case, the isobus-equipped front hopper, costing from £19,405, can be used to supply a fertiliser placement system, and planter-mounted microgranule applicators are also available.

The power harrow itself, priced from £45,715, has hydraulic adjustment of the levelling bar as standard and comes with a Duplex gearbox with oil cooler, a torque limiter to protect the 300hp driveline, and interchangeable gear wheels for different rotor speeds.

The implement is available with carbide-coated fast-fit tines or harder-wearing Durakarb versions with tungsten carbide protection, and a choice of two shark’s fin finishing rollers – the 550mm Steelliner for heavier soils and the 590mm Megapacker for lighter ground.
