Lemken unveils 6m and 9m Thulit flexible tine weeders

A flexible tine weeding harrow has been developed for the Lemken CropCare range. Among its features are consistent tine pressure, on-the-move pressure adjustment and automatic tine fold-in for transport.

The Thulit will be available in 6m and 9m widths when it goes on sale in limited numbers next spring.

Both run on four leading wheels with an additional two at the back to provide a stable base for consistent working depth.

The tine bars and lengthways frame components are perforated to minimise weight and the lift capacity of the tractor needed to operate the implement.

Lemken also says that the underside of the frame has been made as “clean” as possible to minimise the likelihood of trash and foliage hang-ups.

The Thulit’s equal-length flexible hook tines are mounted in two rows on each of the four tine bars, resulting in an effective spacing of a fraction over 31mm to deliver an intensive harrowing action against weeds in growing crops.

A hydraulic pressure system, adjustable on the move, provides up to 5kg of downforce and is said to deliver a consistent tine action across the implement. It also works on rough surfaces and in crops grown on ridges.

It allows sections of tine to be withdrawn to avoid covering the same ground twice where angled passes converge, and to tuck away all the tines when the wings are folded upwards for transport.

Firm prices are yet to be announced but Lemken says the 9m version is likely to start at around £30,000.
