Lemken pushes Thulit flexi-tine harrow out to 12m

Lemken’s high-spec Thulit flexible tine harrow for weeding in arable crops and grassland is now available in a 12.2m width to provide greater output than the current 9m and 6m models.

Like its narrower siblings, the Thulit MF/1200 has a number of novel features for this type of implement, not least the continuously variable hydraulic tine pressure that enables operators to fine-tune performance across different soil types, conditions and target weeds.

Each tine is connected by a tie rod to a small hydraulic cylinder positioned at the front of the frame, providing just 5g to 5kg of pressure to maintain consistent performance as the tine dips into hollows or rides over crests in the soil surface.

Tine settings

Eight-step adjustment of frame height influences the aggressiveness of the 8mm cranked tines, which are replaced individually by disconnecting the tie-rod and loosening a bolt.

The tines are arranged in eight rows spaced to suit 125mm crop row widths, but there are only four tine-carrying frame bars.

These are formed using perforated steel, which together with the lack of tine-mounted springs is said to not only minimise the weight of the implement, but also allow a clearer view of the work being done across its five sections.

Apart from folding for transport, the frames can be folded selectively to work the Thulit with just four or three sections – to suit the power available, to avoid obstacles and to provide section control of sorts.

Support wheels to the front and rear of the frame aim to form a stable base for consistent operation.

List prices start at £39,000.
