Weaving updates Tine Combi Drill piggy-back seeder

Hydraulic depth adjustment enabling operators to set up their machine quicker is one of a handful of upgrades to Weaving’s Tine Combi Drill piggy-back seeder for power harrows.
It’s also a bit lighter and easier on the eye thanks to the use of better-quality components and stronger fabrications, says the company, the metering unit is easier to get at, and a revised platform improves access to the steel hopper.

The implement deploys three rows of tines on a frame carried by lengthy parallel linkage arms, with two lift cylinders and aluminium collars now setting the sowing depth, while the host power harrow’s working depth is altered independently using rams on the packer-roller.
Tines lined up for 125mm row spacing are equipped with reversible chisel points designed to cope with challenging medium to heavy soil conditions in a wet autumn.
Each tine has an adjustable compression spring to encourage good soil penetration while allowing an element of break-back should it encounter a large stone or other obstacle.
A seed boot to the rear of the tine is fed by flexible hose from the seed distribution head located inside the new hopper, which is reached by centrally located steps over the coulter frame and two rows of Z-shaped covering tines.
As a further update, a mounting kit is now available enabling the drill to be fitted on Kuhn as well as Weaving’s own power harrows.
Broad range
The Combi Tine Drill is available in 3m and 4m rigid guise at £19,000 and £21,000, respectively, or £29,800 and £31,800 complete with one of the firm’s power harrows and RDS Art Lite electric metering.
Folding 4m and 6m models are priced up with the more advanced RDS Isoscan controller at £56,000 and £62,000 solo or £72,800 and £78,800 as a complete combination.
This spring, having produced a handful of bespoke examples, Weaving is set to introduce a fully fledged disc coulter version of the drill.
This will have two rows of new double-disc openers of the company’s own design, set at 125mm row spacing and incorporating parallel linkage and a 345mm diameter rubber press wheel.
