Weaving updates mounted GD no-till disc drill

Weaving Machinery has introduced an updated version of its mounted GD no-till disc drill that comes with a larger seed hopper and a tubular frame to help shed debris.

Like the original model that was launched in 2015, it has a series of angled disc coulters that plant seeds with minimal soil disturbance.

However, the system has been upgraded with gas springs rather than hydraulic cylinders, which is said to make setup easier and improve reliability.

The new coulter arrangement is also designed to give more responsive and consistent coulter pressure for more accurate seed placement.

The new 2,000-litre plastic tank is the same as that used on the firm’s Sabre Tine drill, which offers better weight distribution and is designed for a smoother through-flow of seed.

It is also fitted with heavy-duty steel lids, a side access door, rear folding steps and a two-stage platform so that operators have room to move around while filling.

Seed distribution is powered by an RDS Artemis Lite control box with electric metering, and there is a 6in hydraulic fan to deliver seed to the coulters.

Buyers also have the option of upgrading to Isocan GPS metering, which includes a larger screen, allows multiple product application, and is isobus compatible.

The new mounted GD Drill is available in 3m and 4m working widths, with prices starting at £45,800.

These drills are eligible for Farming Equipment and Technology Fund grants, which is open for applications until 4 April 2023.
