Sima 2022: Pottinger launches trailed Aerosem combi drill
Power-harrow combination drills are typically of the mounted persuasion, but there is a growing demand for larger models to run on a trailed chassis.
Pottinger’s answer is the new Aerosem VT 5000, which takes the components from its conventional models and reimagines them for use with a drawbar rather than linkage.

This means seed is delivered with the same double-disc coulter assemblies, complete with integrated press wheel and following harrow. However, coulter pressure has been increased to 60kg.
Central to the setup is a full-width solid rubber packer roller, which stays on the ground when the coulters are lifted at the headlands.
The middle section also doubles up as the transport wheel when it is folded to move between fields.
Soil prep comes courtesy of a power harrow that is suspended from the chassis, just in front of the packer roller, and seed is delivered from a split hopper mounted on top.
This gives the option of blending seed and fertiliser before sending them down the same pipes to the coulters.
Initially, the Aerosem VT is being offered in a 5m format with £119,611 list price, with a 6m version due shortly.
