One-pass Katara combination drill added to Bednar line-up

The already comprehensive seed drill portfolio developed by Czech manufacturer Bednar is being further expanded with a new one-pass drilling combination.

Based on the company’s Kator KN rotary power harrow as the host implement, the seeding outfit comprises the new Katara KN S seeding toolbar fed by the existing 1,600-litre single- or two-compartment Seed Box front-mounted hopper.

The sowing element of this combination uses coulter components from the company’s Omega disc-cultivating multi-purpose drill.

This includes double-disc coulters carried on parallel linkage for consistent work depth over surface undulations, followed by individual press wheels for each row, and a covering harrow.

There is a choice of 125mm and 167mm row widths and, as standard, the toolbar comes with a single, centrally-mounted seed distribution head but a second can be added to allow half-width working where passes converge.

Removing the seeding system is reckoned to be a speedy and easy process thanks to parking legs and quick-clamping stops, and the location of all cable harness, hydraulic hose and feed pipe connections are all in one location.

The Katara KN S is currently available as a 6m machine only at present, priced from around £135,000 complete with Seed Box, but other sizes are planned.

Corsa options

Bednar has added new soil-working options to its existing 6m toolbar seeder, the Corsa CN, which is also designed to partner a front hopper or the company’s Matador MO strip-till drill.

A single row of clod-crushing paddle levelling tines with hydraulic angle adjustment or the Frontpack 390mm tyre packer can be added for final seed-bed preparation, as can a row of 400mm-diameter Turbo spiral-fluted or Profi wavy-edge cultivating discs.

Twin distributor heads for half-width working, fertiliser, seed and microgranule surface broadcasters add to the versatility of the implement.

Corsa CN 6000 prices start at £62,000 with 1,600-litre Seed Box.
