New Horsch Avatar 12.25 LC gets 9,400-litre triple tank

A bigger capacity version of the 12m Horsch Avatar 12.25 direct drill can carry up to 9,400 litres of seed or a combination of seeds and fertiliser in its triple compartment tank.

And further placement resources come in the form of a 400-litre MiniDrill option mounted on the drawbar.

Like the current “SD” version, the new “LC” comprises a towed seed cart with a coulter frame carried on the back.

However, this one has 3,000 litres more capacity, giving more versatility for mixing and matching products, as well as potential for greater productivity through fewer fill-ups.

As with other Avatar drills, the newcomer sports a single-disc opener with plastic depth wheel alongside, mounted on a trailing arm attached to the frame using a rubber-damped clamp.

This arrangement is designed to allow some sideways as well as vertical movement to minimise impacts against large stones and the like, while delivering up to 350kg of adjustable pressure to penetrate hard soils or the vegetation of dense cover crops.

All coulters are arranged in a single row at 250mm spacing.
