Horizon pushes DSX no-till disc drill to 9m working width
Horizon Agricultural Machinery has extended its DSX no-till disc drill with a larger chassis that allows working widths of up to 9m.
Several row spacings are offered – 16.7cm, 18.7cm, 20cm and 25cm – and, thanks to a clamping toolbar, buyers can play around with the setup as they see fit.
The drills also give the option of sowing with all coulters, every other to give double spacing, or placing two different products in alternate rows.

It’s the same story with working width, as the modular format of the wings means they can be added to if a business takes on more land or buys a bigger tractor.
Horizon has incorporated 5deg of positive and negative float into each wing which, when combined with the parallel linkage found on each of the DSX row units, is said to give accurate seeding depth across the entire wingspan.
Also contributing to this endeavour are pneumatic stabilising wheels positioned near the outer edge of each wing.
Crucially, the sizeable machine folds to a comparatively neat 3m wide and 4m tall, allowing legal voyages on UK roads.
Disc coulters
The coulters are the same units used on the firm’s smaller DSX, which feature an angled undercut disc followed by a pneumatically adjustable closing wheel.
Row cleaners can also be added to flick trash away from the disc’s path, reducing the risk of hair-pinning.
Seed is delivered from a 5,700-litre main hopper with a 60/40 split, giving the option of applying two products at once.
Buyers can add additional applicators for small seeds and granules, as well as various fertiliser systems.
All models run on rear-mounted 750mm flotation tyres as standard and come with several attachment options, including a towing eye, Cat 3 two-point linkage and Cat 4 ball hitch.
Order books are open ready for spring delivery, and guide prices for drills with 20cm spacings are as follows: £146,000 for a 7.5m, £150,000 for an 8m and £158,000 for a 9m.
