Agritechnica 2023: Horizon develops lightweight M-spec DSX no-till drill

Horizon Agriculture has put its DSX no-till disc drill on a serious diet, creating a lightweight version that’s suited to smaller farms.

Coulters on the M:DSX are the same undercut disc units as used on its bigger sibling, but rather than being mounted on a heavy-duty trailed chassis, they’re bolted to a simple three-point linkage-mounted frame.

Buyers can team the toolbar with an existing front hopper, or they can opt for the firm’s own FT220 unit, which is divided 60/40 and comes with twin metering systems, allowing two products to be applied at the same time.

Row spacings can be either 220mm or 250mm, with the latter getting the option of pneumatic row cleaners.

Other potential add-ons include a 400-litre mini applicator and weight blocks to help it bite into hard ground.

Working widths of 3m, 4m, 4.8m, 5m and 6m are available and the power requirement is about 25hp/m.
