Claas boosts its triple mower offering
Claas has added two mower conditioners to its triple mower range, the Disco 8400C Contour and the Disco 9100C Contour.
The arrival of these butterfly-type triple mowers means there is now a choice of five conditioner and two non-conditioner triple or butterfly models to choose from, with working widths from 8.1m to 9.1m.
Both the new models have a mounting system for the outer two rear-mounted units that is designed to position them as close as possible to the tractor to reduce axle loading.
The outer units are also centrally suspended and incorporate Claas’s Active-Float hydropneumatic suspension system. This system allows the operator to adjust the suspension pressure from the cab according to the conditions, thereby ensuring a clean cut and minimal risk of soil contamination.
The outer units also have an automatic breakback feature – when an obstruction is hit the whole mower unit swings back and lifts to avoid damage.
All three mower units use the Claas conditioner unit, which is fitted with rubber-mounted steel tines. A full-width spreader hood is also available to allow the crop to be spread across the full width of the mower.
Both mowers use the Claas P-Cut cutterbar, which is designed to give an even and clean cut. Drive to the discs is through a smooth-running, low-wear transmission using large diameter gearwheels, with an individual drive system for each cutting disc.
The cutting discs are set lower in the cutterbar for a cleaner cut and improved crop flow and are mounted in a new, high-strength sealed roller bearing assembly.
