Electric weed wiper from Chapman helps tackle stubborn nettles and thistles
Devon-based ATV attachments maker Chapman Machinery has launched the trailed W240 Weed Wiper for controlling weeds, rushes and bracken on a variety of different terrains.
It’s a 2.4m machine that is designed to go behind ATVs and farm buggies and has a 55-litre tank, pump, trailing 19x7x8 semi-flotation tyres and a large 200mm roller.

The drive is electrically powered rather than the usual ground-drive system.
The benefit of this, says the company, is that the carpet roller rotates at a constant 25rpm regardless of forward speed.
It also ensures the maximum liquid-carrying capacity and cuts the danger of dripping between patches of weeds.
The roller can be reversed for specific weed types, and to reduce wear and tear the roller doesn’t rotate when it is being moved from field to field.
The chassis is made from smooth 60mm steel tube, so weeds flow smoothly in and out of the roller and no chemical is deposited on to the frame of the machine.
Drive is via a geared electric motor with a two-button control to switch the motor and sprayer pump on and off. Cost is £2,100
