Challenger launches Terragator TG845

Challenger has officially launched its TG845 four-wheeled Terragator that’s fitted with a CVT transmission and AdBlue engine.

First seen at the Agritechnica show in Germany last year, the TG845 uses a stepless gearbox borrowed from sister firm Fendt. This can be controlled using a foot pedal or hand lever and can propel the machine to maximum speed of 40kph.

An 8.4-litre Sisu AdBlue engine provides the grunt and churns out a max power of 400hp.

The chassis has also been tweaked and now features a ‘DogWalk’ option that means all wheels run in their own tracks. This basically allows the rear axle to pivot on a turntable arrangement so that it crabs up the field with all four wheels running on fresh ground.

Challenger says this spreads the vehicle weight more evenly over the ground and, because two wheels never run in the same path, it cuts the risk of creating ruts.

The chassis has also been designed to make sure implements are always pulled in a straight line, without the need for a steering rear linkage.

In the cab, a 10inch touch-screen terminal is fitted as standard and this deals with both liquid and dry applications.

The system is also capable of handling variable rate spreading. It monitors forward speed using a radar and adjusts the flow of material, either liquid or solids, to match the pre-set or variable application rates.

The Terragator 845 is designed and built in Challenger’s Grubbenworst factory in The Netherlands.
