Cereals 2024: Smartlift converts combi-drills to one-pass seeding
Spotting a gap in the market for a simple, lower cost toolbar, Yorkshire firm Smartbox introduced the Smartlift.
It’s primarily designed to mount in front of a combination drill to allow direct seeding into stubbles.
But the firm says it will work with a wide range of mounted seeders, as well as trailed machines that hook to the link arms.

Unlike higher-end toolbars, such as the Restorer built by sister company Ryetec, it only has the basics to get the job done.
This means there’s a simple frame which, on 3m versions, holds six 150mm JJ Metcalfe CS low-disturbance legs spaced 50cm apart.
Upsizing it to 4m simply involves purchasing a couple of extra legs and lengths of box-section steel, which slide into sockets on the ends of the main frame.
Other features include adjustable Cat 2 or Cat 3 linkage hooks and a dropped centre frame section that allows the pto to pass through.
Prices start at £8,000 for the 3m model.
