Lamma 2025: US-made Volcon electric UTV breaks cover

Thetford-based Electric Wheels has taken on the import job for Volcon UTVs, as the US firm targets European expansion.

Prices for the battery-powered buggies start at about £23,000, for which buyers – particularly those into their technology – get a pretty attractive spec.

Most of the stand-out features are in the cab, which is remarkably car-like.

Features include push-button start, a digital dash and, curiously, ambient multi-colour interior lighting.

There’s also a monster 13in Android-based touchscreen, through which buyers can surf the net via Google Chrome, run a satnav system, and play tunes from their smartphone.

Initial iterations come with a windscreen and half doors, but a full cab will be available later in the year.

Also in the pipeline is a lower-spec version, which Electric Wheels reckons might come in at just under £20,000.

As for the important stuff, power is delivered by a 17.5kW battery reckoned to be good for 100km on a single charge, top speed is 50mph, and it has selectable four-wheel drive with high and low ranges.

Carrying capacity is said to be on a par with similar machines from the likes of Polaris and Can-Am.
