Without the necessary tools, post driving can be one of the more arduous farm tasks.

But one labour-saving option for those that don’t have a tractor-mounted post knocker is the Picket post driver. Air driven, it weighs just 18kg. That should make it ideal for one-man jobs and it should make life easier when working in awkward field corners, too.

Rather than relying on good old-fashioned elbow grease, the pneumatic driver is powered by a portable petrol-driven compressor. It requires about 30CFM at 150PSI and can be used to drive all manner of round or square posts up to five inches in diameter.
