Cummins power will only be available to buyers of JCB’s 3000-series Fastracs until April next year. From that date onwards, the range will be fitted with a 7.4-litre Sisu AdBlue engine. While the 24-speed semi-power shift transmission remains the same as before there are a handful of new features. Hill-hold uses a gyroscope to automatically activate the brakes while the tractor is at a stand-still on slopes. Traction Assist works likes a car-type traction control system to limit wheelslip by applying the brakes to individual wheels as they start to spin. In addition there is now electronically-controlled progressive ABS and an Eco road mode which means the engine runs at 1500rpm even when the tractor gets up to its 70kph top speed. A sculpted chassis allows bigger wheels and tyres to be fitted while the turning circle has been reduced by almost 1m, it is claimed.
