Farmers Weekly has updated its buyer’s guides for tractors and telehandlers in the UK.

The guides have been refreshed on the back of some cheering statistics from the Agricultural Engineers Association that suggest machinery sales are finally picking up after a dismal 18 months.

In fact, tractor sales for the first two months of this year are 9.4% higher than the same period in 2016 and also well above 2015’s figures.

The lists contain up-to-date prices to help compare similarly sized models and contain every manufacturer above 50hp, together with a handful of key spec details including horsepower ratings, transmission options, hydraulic outputs and lift capacities.

Every year our guide seems to grow as manufacturers push the horsepower boundaries.

Latterly, we’ve had Fendt with its 500hp 1000-series, Deere finally taking the plunge into four-track crawlers and Massey Ferguson pushing the limits of four-pot power beyond the 200hp mark.

However, if the big-ticket kit is out of your range then don’t despair – the likes of Armatrac, Iseki and Solis are working hard in the sub-100hp sector to wrestle sales from the established names.

For those that run a strictly second-hand policy when it comes to tractors, it’s also worth printing out these tables and tucking them away somewhere safe until such times as you come to buying.

If you have no particular penchant for a certain brand then the guides can be a useful ally in the decision-making process.
