VIDEO: New world record for Charolais bull sale
A Charolais bull has sold for a new world record price of 100,000gns for the breed at Stirling Bull Sales.
The sale of Vexour Garth smashes the previous breed record of 70,000gns set at the same sale last year for Barnsford Ferny from Tom and Sheena Gatherer, Barsford.
Garth was put forward by investment banker, Jan Boomaars, Heathdown, Woldingham, Kent, and was bought on behalf of the USA based Livestock Capital Company.
Originally from the Netherlands, Mr Boomaars has been In the UK since the 1990s and comes from a farming family.
Speaking about Vexour Garth he said: “He is a well balanced bull and out of a very good female line that’s done well for us.”
Garth will remain in the UK while his semen will be exported.
Apparently the company has interest in selling to the USA and South Africa.
This Dingle Hofmeister son is out of Vexour Della and has a TSI of +71 and a SRI of +74.
Rumour has it the under bidders were a consortium of five from the South.
