Worcester Aberdeen Angus trade peaks at 4,350gns
Demand for Aberdeen Angus males and females was strong at the breed society’s annual spring show and sale at Worcester Market on Friday 14 April, with bull averages up £268.33 on the year.
Sale leader at 4,350gns was the April 2015-born bull Warrneho Esquire R574 from Rob Bishop, Wokingham, Berkshire.

By the former Royal Show champion and sire of four Stirling champions, Warrenho Dalmigavie G237, he is out of a home-bred daughter by The Moss Mr Eshton D409.
Buyers were AFJ Coward and Sons, Warminster, Wiltshire.

Two bulls then shared a 4,000gns price tag. The first was Blackacre Jake Eric R231 from Narbeth, Pembrokeshire-based John Biggs.
This January 2015-born Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 son is out of a home-bred daughter of Rawburn Lord Rob F548 and sold with a self-replacing index of +60 to EG Righton, Pershore, Worcestershire.

This March 2016-born son of the home-bred Oakchurch Equity N141 is out of a Te Mania Berkley B1 daughter, Oakchurch Donna N120, and sold with a terminal sire index of +48 and a self-replacing index of +64. Buyer was AR Johns, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Selling for 3,900gns was Temple Jasper Eric S669 from Andrew, Judith and Grace Denning of Temple Farm, Somerset
The Denning family from Chedzoy, Somerset, then took 3,900gns for their February 2016-born Temple Jasper Eric S669.
Shown by youngest daughter Grace, this one is a son of the home-bred and successful show bull Temple Northern Prince P583 and is out of a Netherton Kiwi Sam A141 daughter.
He found a new home with W Price and Son, Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire.
The half brother to the sale leader, Warrenho Elijah R578, was knocked down at 3,850gns to J Lomas and Partners, Malvern, Worcestershire.
By Dalmigavie, this one is out of a Lockerely Legend F612 daughter and is full brother to the 11,000gns Warrenho Elite M417.
Just shy of that price at 3,800gns was another from the Price family’s string of cattle, Oakchurch Firefox R233.
This second-placed bull was again by Oakchurch Equity N141 and this time out of a Rawburn Transformer daughter. He found a new home with WJ Winning, Blunsdon, Swindon.

This one is by Logie Red Eagle H664 and is out of a home-bred Rawburn Edge J983 daughter. With a self-replacing index of +54, he sold for 3,500gns to EA and N Griffiths, Leominster, Herefordshire.

The couple also paid 2,000gns for the reserve female champion, Cheerbrook Evas Honey R064 from Andrew Shufflebotham, Nantwich, Cheshire.
This March 2015-born Chathill Esam Eric M641 daughter is out of the 7,500gns Kitewood Evas Honey H044 and was sold having been served to Penguin Henry M503.
