Oakchurch Charollais disperses to 6,000gns
A top call of 6,000gns and a ewe lamb average of £1,092 were among the headlines at the dispersal of the Oakchurch flock of Jeremy and Ala Price, Staunton-on-Wye, Herefordshire, last week (27 May).
A 2015-born ewe by one of the flock’s most successful sires, Banwy Oh What a Boy, topped the trade at 6,000gns. Oakchurch Ruby 16WKW00153 is out of a Banwy-bred dam by Foulrice Nelson.
Boasting an index of 280, she had been flushed previously and progeny had grossed more than 14,000gns. She caught the eye of David Roberts of the Boyo flock, Shrewsbury.

Another aged ewe impressed on the day to hit the second-highest price of 4,500gns. Oakchurch WKW00495 is a 2017-born female by an Aberkinsey tup and sold to Irish breeder David Argue, County Cavan.
The top shearling ewe was a Barnard Tycoon daughter that made 4,000gns.
Oakchurch 21WKW00955 sold to Ben James, Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, who also took home its dam, a Glyn Coch Mr T daughter out of a Banwy-bred female, for 2,800gns.
The highest-indexed sheep in the catalogue – at 380.58 – made 3,000gns. Oakchurch 21WKW00909 is by Lowerye Ronnie and out of a Banwy Oh What a Boy daughter. She sold to GE and S Whiting, Liskeard, Cornwall.
The top ewe lamb matched this price with another successful bid from David Roberts.
Oakchurch Alabama Slammer 22WKW00972 is by the 15,000gns Cavick What a Boy! and carries an index of 267.77.
Averages: 51 aged ewes £1,023.75; 27 shearling ewes £1,187.50; 26 ewe lambs, £1,092.40 (McCartneys).
