Limousin bull sets new centre record at Ballymena
A new all-breeds centre record of 10,500gns was made at Ballymena last week (6 June) by Limousin breeders H and D McFarland, from County Tyrone.
Their trade topper was the September 2018-born Rahoney Obed. He sold to Stuart Perkins, Somerset. Obed is an AI son of Plumtree Fantastic and out of Rahoney Hazel by Haltcliffe Vermount.
Next at 4,500gns was Carnew Ordiscoll from Messrs J and J Aiken, Dromore, County Down. This December 2018 born bull is by Gerrygullinane Glen, a grandson of Ronick Hawk, and out of the dam Carnew Ladyjane. He caught the eye of Norman McBurney, Moorfields, Ballymena, County Antrim.

The October 2018-born Droit Orkney from Richard James Mowbray, Newtownstewart, County Tyrone, fetched 3,800gns. He is by Wilodge Cerberus and out of Hatcliffe Harriot, which is by Larkhill Firmount. Buyer was Messrs Kennedy, Mill Road, Downpatrick, County Down.
Females sold to a top of 2,300gns twice for two Heathmount heifers from McKinney Brothers, Craigadick Road, Maghera.
First at this money was Heathmount Octet by Gunnerfleet Landmark and out of Heathmount Aileen, a daughter of Jockey. This July 2018-born heifer sold to B McAlister, Ballymena, County Antrim.
The second heifer at 2,300gns was Heathmount Passionate – a rising yearling by Gunnerfleet Landmark and out of Heathmount Jovial, an Etudiant daughter. She headed home with James Alexander, Randalstown, County Antrim.
Averages: 16 bulls, £3,281.25 (+£496), 12 females, £1,881.25 (+£53).
