Suffolks to 5500gns at Carlisle

A top price of 5,500gns was paid for a shearling ewe from Barclay Mair’s Deveronside flock at a joint reduction sale held in conjunction with stock from Angus Wilson’s Glenhead flock at Borderway Mart.

By Strathisla Sea Bird, the shearling won the ewe lamb class at the Royal Highland last year and goes to J C Innes and Sons, Aberdeenshire. A 2010 ewe by Strathbeg Stan The Man from the Deveronside offering realised 4,300gns to M Waycott, Newton Abbot, Devon.

A 2010 ewe by Glenhead Black Diamond topped the Glenhead section. She made 1500gns to A Hambleton, Penrith.

Averages: Deveronside – 25 ewes £1429 and 21 gimmers £1239; Glenhead – 43 ewes £524 and 35 gimmers £372; five ewe lambs £480 and 14 ram lambs £418.
