‘Affordable’ sheep data subscription service launched

Livestock management platform iLivestock has collaborated with stock handling manufacturer Rappa to deliver a fully integrated weighing and data management system on subscription.

For £185 a month plus VAT, sheep farmers will receive Rappa’s three-way drafting WeighCrate and iLivestock’s tag reader, load bars, weigh indicator and software package.

The price includes farm setup, training and no-quibble replacements or repairs.

After the three-year subscription ends, farmers are gifted the equipment and can continue using the iLivestock app free, or sign up again and receive new equipment.

Launching the service at the NSA Sheep Event, iLivestock chief executive Ewen Wardman said the offering is designed to make performance monitoring more accessible and affordable by avoiding a big capital outlay in equipment.

Ewen said grant schemes had helped with the purchase of technology, but equipment was often left redundant in the cupboard or underutilised because farmers were not given set-up support.

“No one else does this in the industry. It’s not just about getting technology onto farms; it’s about ensuring farmers can use it effectively.

“Our new package gives farmers complete peace of mind that they’ll be able to use the technology they’re investing in.”
