Royal Welsh entries at record levels

Following the trend set by the Royal Highland, the Royal Welsh Show is also facing record entry levels this year, with a totaln of 1158 cattle entered, 116 up on last year. This includes 967 beef cattle, up by 178 on the year, and 191 dairy cattle, up by 38 on 2009.

Limousins lead the entries with 183, while the next best is British Blues with 82 and Simmentals with 71. A total of 157 commercial cattle will also be forward for judging.

In the sheep lines and 45 breeds will be on show this year, total entries stand at 3145, 200 up on last year. Texels head up the numbers at 340, followed by Charollais at 220. Pig entries stand at 123 this year.
