Royal Highland Show dairy results
Dairy breed judging has just been completed here at the Royal Highland, with the interbreed due to follow on shortly.
Winning the Holstein championship was Brian Weatherup with Parkend Jacob Betsy, a Bilsrow Jacob daughter. This heifer is currently giving 40kg a day having calved in December. Projected to give more than 10,000kg she was champion heifer at Ayr Show. Reserve here were R and E Butterfield with their third calved cow, Saxelby Goldwyn Rose, a Braedale Goldwyn daughter. She gave 12,700kg in her last lactation.
Taking the Ayrshire title was Robin Barr with Calderglen Raffia, a Calderglen Lancelot daughter. This second calver is giving 30kg a day having given 7000kg as a heifer. She was first at Cambletown last year. In reserve here were Jim and Gilmour Lawrie with Brieryside Centurion Cherry, a Brieryside Centurion daughter. She was on her first outing and stood junior champion too.
Across in the Jerseys the championship went to Robert Hunter withClydevalley Julian Flora, a Valleystream Julian daughter. She wasreserve interbreed here last year and is currently giving 41kg a dayhaving calved in December. She is projected at 10,100kg this timeround. Reserve here were J and I Wilson with Goodtime VindicationOrder, a Vindication C J C C daughter.
And winning in a strongshow of Dairy Shorthorns was Graham Madeley with Rodway Sonnschein 15,a Kingsdale Libby’s Rebel daughter. She is currently giving 35kg a dayas a second calver. Standing reserve was the second place cow from thesame class, Churchroyd Lady Rose from Ian Collins. This is byMarleycote Maverick and is giving 38kg a day having calved three weeks.
