Aviagen Turkeys acquires Holly Berry Hatcheries

Aviagen Turkeys has confirmed the acquisition of Lincolnshire-based Holly Berry Hatcheries, enhancing its position as a producer and seller of turkey poults for the UK’s traditional “farm fresh” market.
Operating under the Hockenhull Turkeys banner, Aviagen already has a presence in the farm fresh and speciality sectors of the turkey supply chain.
Holly Berry Hatcheries is a long-established business in the market and, under the leadership of Roger Finney, has gained significant market share. It will be run as a separate company to Hockenhull Turkeys, under the management of Martin Shea.
Commenting on the acquisition, managing director of Aviagen Turkeys, Ian Hamilton, said the company was committed long term to the turkey sector and had invested significantly in the breeding programme. “This deal confirms Aviagen Turkeys’ support of all sectors of the market and our confidence in the future of the whole turkey industry,” he said.
