On a bright, sunny morning last summer, Sussex egg producer Susie Macmillan of The Mac’s Farm played host to TV chef Jamie Oliver and celebrity farmer Jimmy Doherty.
The dynamic duo were at The Mac’s Farm in Ditchling to film an episode in their upcoming series Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast.
Poultry World went along to capture some of the day on camera.

Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday night feast
The first episode in the new six-part series of Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast will air on Channel Four at 9pm on Friday 2 January.
The programme is based around a “pop-up” café on Southend pier, where Jamie is cooking up “indulgent” dishes for the weekend. A host of other celebs will also be popping in to knock up their favourite dishes.
During the series Jamie and Jimmy also take to the road, tearing around the country in their Ford Capri to investigate the problem of food waste. The first episode takes a look at so-called “ugly veg”.
The episode featuring The Mac’s Farm is scheduled for next Friday (9 January). Here the discussion focuses on pullet eggs, and how what is sometimes treated as a second-rate product is actually the perfect ingredient for tasty home baking.
“Pullet eggs are eggs at their very best, with intense flavour and larger yolks – perfect for poaching as they hold together so nicely in the pan,” said Susie. “Sadly they are often overlooked and end up in processing. It was brilliant to have the chance to explain this to a wider TV audience. Meeting Jamie and Jimmy was great fun too – especially as they have both since taken some of our girls for re-homing!”
