Irish egg packer agrees to his extradition to the UK

Irish egg packer Pearse Piggott agreed to his extradition to the UK last month for his alleged involvement in a £1.59m fraud in which cage eggs were passed off as free range.

Mr Piggott, who runs the egg distribution firm Pearse Piggott and Sons, is facing charges including conspiracy with others to defraud and perverting the course of justice. The court also heard that the maximum sentences for those offences is 10 years and life imprisonment, respectively.

The judge agreed to grant the businessman bail until a date could be arranged for the surrender to take place.
