Closure confirmed for 2 Sisters Haughley Park site

2 Sisters’ Haughley Park cooked chicken processing plant in Suffolk is set to close in November, the company has confirmed.
The announcement follows a 45-day consultation that, the company said, hoped to seek “other solutions” to the closure.
A spokesperson for the firm said the site, near Stowmarket, Suffolk, was unsustainable and unviable, “environmentally, economically and commercially”.
“This decision has not been taken lightly and has been made following a detailed manufacturing footprint review,” she added.
“Our immediate focus now will be to support our colleagues and do as much as we can to help during this difficult and uncertain time.”
Haughley Park is one of five 2 Sisters plants in East Anglia, the others being Eye and Flixton in Suffolk; Thetford in Norfolk; and Basildon and Witham in Essex.
It is understood the closure puts the jobs of around 430 members of staff at risk.
