Pig movements go electronic

Livestock collection centres will be able to record pig movements electronically from the beginning of October. Using the ‘eAML2’ service.

The process will work as follows:

  1. Producers set up their movement to the collection centre either from their eAML2 online account or through the eAML2 bureau service
  2. The consignments will show in the collection centre eAML2 online account and the collection centre confirms numbers received and any “dead on arrivals” (DOAs)
  3. The collection centre can then set up the onward movement to abattoir, made up of the different consignments.
  4. A print-out/haulier summary sheet will be automatically created to be retained by the driver during transport.
  5. The onward move consignment is automatically emailed to the destination abattoir
  6. The abattoir will confirm the numbers received and DOAs as before, only now it will be in electronic form and the movement information will be automatically uploaded to the government database.

Collection centres will be contacted by the eAML2 bureau service in the coming days to confirm their details.

If any centre has not been contacted by the end of September please email or call the eAML2 helpline eaml2@bpex.org.uk or 0844 335 8400.

There is a quick start user guide for collection centres on how to use the electronic service, which can be found at www.eaml2.org.uk under “Help and user guides”.
