Photos: Cow gets trapped in… a bicycle

There’s an old saying that you’ll never see a farmer on a bicycle. But maybe you’ll see a cow trying to get on one.

A stunned driver pulled up and snapped this incredible picture of a cow with its head stuck in a bike frame.

The cow was moving with a herd through the streets of the New Forest and seemed to have got waylaid.

The driver, John Weiler, said: “It’s not something you see every day.” We’d definitely agree with that.

Mr Weiler said, “I was driving through Brockenhurst and noticed the cow on the side of the road so I stopped and got out of my car. “She was staying quite calm. I did try and approach her but she backed away a little.

“She was with a herd that was on the move, it’s not unusual to see livestock moving in the streets like this but it is unusual to see a bike around a cow’s neck.”

He phoned New Forest caretakers the Agisters for advice, and then a police officer turned up after receiving a call from a concerned resident.
